Charles Sanders Peirce wrote in 1984 a document named "What is a sign?", in this paper he explained his theories and reflections about the semiotic system, taking into account that he had philosophy thoughts, which pretends explain and interpretation of the knowledge.
We will try to explain the principal concepts of Charles P. and give some examples for a better understood. Not only this paper will explain the different Peirce concepts, so we will return various documents and we will make a summary of this.
All reasoning is an interpretation of signs of some kind. Peirce in What is a sign? (1984) realized a description about the sing, the states of the mind, of the reality and other concepts; we will star whit the concepts of Sign, Representamen, object and interpretan.
The sign is triadic, i.e it is composed by 3 elements: Representamen, object and interpretan. A representamen is something which stands to somebody for something in some respect or capacity. The representamen is something that enters interrelation whit its object. Is the representation of something but it's not a faithful representation. It addresses somebody, that is, creates in the mind of that person an equivalent sign or perhaps a more developed sign. That sign which it creates it call the interpretant of the first sign. The sign stands for something, it is object. It stands for that object, not in all respects, but in reference to a sort of idea, which I have sometimes called the ground of the representamen.

The object can never be identical to the real object, but is a representation too; there are two kinds of objects the dynamic object and the immediate object, the first is one who is outside to the semiosis, it is concrete and the second is one who is inside to the semiosis, it is abstract.
The Interpretan is other sign, other representation of the sign and it refers to the same object that the representamen. Other aspect of the interpretan is the capacity to translate a word, here the interpretant have to think and translate the word in an other language.
Then, Peirce explain three more concepts:
* The Icon: It is similar to the object in its material form. denoted.
* The Index: is not similar to the object but is related. the index is a sign that denotes the real object in a few characteristics.
* The Symbol: it is a law or convention. The symbol used to be arbitrary.
In other document, Peirce explained the three states of reality :
* Firtsness: Considering something as it is. Linked the ideas and possibilities, here we only feel.
* Secondness: Considered something as is it but in relation whit other, is the reaction.
* Thirdness: Makes possible the law. Connect the qualities with we perceive, the thinking.
So, in a very synthesized summary about Peirce's theories, we can affirm that:
1. Representamen --> Icon -> Firstness -> Feeling-> Qualities
2. Object --> Index -> Secondness -> Reaction -> keep relation with the real object
3. Interpretant --> Symbol -> Thridness -> Thinking-> Established law
Each one is different, but everyone integrate a Semiotic system.
